The athlete recorded her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in the British capital.

The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap campaign with a triumph at the all-female Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the World Championships last month, excelled in an outstanding win in 1:56.53 in what was only her sixth race in a season impacted by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Bell finished second again in 1:58.33, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this season so it was likely easier for me to go out there and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere at the event is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The women-only meet filled the stadium in its second year, introducing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena Williams, who is married to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their tiaras.

Last year's winners received sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in athletics.

The event also attracted some of the sport's biggest names, as Kenya's three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.

The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, secured the 100m and 200m double.
